Art tells the story of our history and our future yet critics say “It Ain’t That Deep “

Music and story telling influences the way Black culture is shaped. As a story teller I decided to intercept these two beautiful concepts to change the way we view music journalism and artistry in hop-hop culture.

We Control Our Own Narratives

Meet the Author

"It Ain’t That Deep" is the dream, and right now, I’m paving the road. My name is Cynthia Taylor-Cutler. I am a rising junior at Howard University, majoring in Broadcast Journalsim with a minor in Speech Pathology. I hail from East St. Louis, IL. Perseverance and creativity have been my driving forces, aiming to be a multidimensional creator with storytelling as the goal. Films, books, and music drive culture, while race-indifferent media serves as our connection. As a speech pathologist, we learn to study, analyze, and dissect our clients language in order to think like them. In other words, I went to school to understand people by analyzing their words. I want to create dynamic characters and be one of the greats. A writer encompasses the paradox of omniscience and ignorance, by telling truths that spark humanity in ways they’ve never seen. I am at the forefront of entertainment and media.

I am the person that has always been over looked, devalued, and unseen.

YET

I find love and empathy by relinquishing vanity in juxtaposition of capturing the realness of the world.
